Drama as drunk cop on duty causes a stir at police station

An Inyathi Zimbabwe Republic Police constable caused a stir after he was cautioned for drinking in police uniform whilst on duty at a local bar on Saturday.

Allegations are that constable Mataba was on night duty over the weekend with another colleague in charge office.

His thirsty for beer reportedly made him lie to his colleague that he wanted to go and get another cap since the one he had was torn.

According to a police memorandum directed to officer commanding Inyathi, Mataba proceeded to Jordan bar where he started to drink vice Roy.

He was cautioned by an Assistant Inspector at the same station and he refused to take heed.

The Assistant Inspector proceeded to the camp where he lodged the constable in their police books.

Mutaba stormed the police station in rage shouting at the Assistant Inspector and apparently drunk.

He is said to have destroyed the I.C crime's office using an iron bar.

Upon getting entry he took keys for cells and police books before leaving to his house.

However, he was arrested the following day at his house where he was caught fast asleep.
