Senior nurse found in possession of dangerous drugs

A senior male nurse employed as an anesthetist at the Gweru Provincial Hospital has been arraigned before Midlands provincial magistrate Mrs Phathekile Msipa facing charges of possessing dangerous drugs and stealing drugs from his workplace.
Andrew Mboneka (34), of Mkoba Village 14, who was also allegedly found in possession of 0,218kg of mbanje, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing the dangerous drug.
Mboneka who was being represented by Mr Reginald Chidawanyika of Chitere, Chidawanyika and Partners, however, denied charges of stealing drugs from his workplace and was remanded to 28 February on $100 bail.
He will, however, be back in the dock today for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to possessing 0,218 kg of mbanje.
For the State, Mr Michael Mhene told the court that on 10 February this year, police received a tip off to the effect that Mboneka was selling a dangerous drug, pethidine at his home.
Mr Mhene sad police then proceeded to Mboneka's house in Mkoba 14 and conducted a search.
The court heard that during the search, police discovered an assortment of drugs suspected to have been stolen by Mboneka at his workplace.
Mr Mhene said the police also discovered 0,218kg of mbanje in Mboneka's house leading to his subsequent arrest.
