MDC president Welshman Ncube says his party doubts whether prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai fractured his ankle playing golf.
MDC said the explanation given "does not add up".
"The golf club injury is not convincing and suspicious."
"Even amateur golfers cannot sustain such injuries" Ncube told thousands of supporters in Nkayi.
"So he is a clumsy golfer."
Ncube said something far removed from golf injured his leg.
"We are just told he was playing golf but the venue is not said. Even his playmates are not known or saying anything" added Ncube.
Tsvangirai maintains that he sustained the injury playing golf in January.
So serious was the injury that he was flown to South Africa for treatment and missed the first cabinet meeting this year.
He needed a plaster to put on the ankle and is using a walking stick.
Tsvangirai picked golf as a hobby recently.
