Police in Guyu Gwanda are accused of demanding $20 from complainants who had visited a police station to make a report of their relative who was causing a lot of problems for the family.
One of the concerned family members told Bulawayo24.com that a relative is terrorising the community at Chelesa village in Guyu, Gwanda south.
"For the sake of Ubuntu the family always pay back the stolen property because we want to leave in peace with our neighbours and the community," said a relative who requested anonymity.
"He keep on doing the same stupid mistakes so we decide to have him arrested at Guyu police station. I was surprise to be told that they need $20 pay in order to open the case.
"The questions is where on earth will the poor people from the village get that money?, because they survive by farming about 97% is not working," he said.
"May you share this story because I don't believe that the government will do that to the poor community."
