Arrested MDC officials released from Gwanda police custody

The six MDC officials who were arrested on Saturday in Gwanda, Matebeleland South were today released from police custody after the police said they had no charges to answer.
The six were arrested at the MDC provincial offices as they were holding what police called unsactioned political meeting which MDC says was training for the provincial and district members.
Nelson Chamisa, MDC national organising secretary said police in the province interrupted their training programmes before arresting everyone who was there, charging them with holding unendorsed meeting
Meanwhile, 14 other members who were arrested in Beitbridge carrying out the same exercise appeared in court today and the magistrate is yet to make a ruling on whether they should be remanded in custody.
The State is opposing bail.
