The love of a chicken drumstick almost proved fatal for a Gweru father and son after they knifed each other using a dangerous okapi knife.
Aleck Banda (60) and his son Never aged 29 stay in the same house at Mkoba township.
Sometime last week, the elder Banda thought of having chicken as relish. He proceeded to slaughter his bird and told his son that he won't get a piece.
"My son is married but does not want to buy relish for the family. I then told him that he would not eat the chicken which I had just slaughtered as relish on the day in question," said the elder Banda.
Banda added that his son angered by his father remarks grabbed the okapi knife from him and cut the drumstick.
It was at that point that a knife battle ensured.
Never sustained a deep cut on his shoulder which was inflicted by his angry dad while Banda escaped with bruises on his hands.
Magistrate Jesline Mashiri postponed the matter to April 4.
