A 79 year old man from Silobela, Midlands collapsed and died when his late wife's relatives stormed his homestead and drove away nine cattle as outstanding lobola for the deceased woman.
Police are treating Petros Enos Mahlangu's case as a sudden death. Mahlangu's relative, More Damba said the deceased has since been buried. "It happened two weeks ago. The family is in a state of shock and we do not know where our in-laws got the nerve to do such a thing," he said.
"Now we do not know exactly how many cattle the deceased owed. We do not know why they came all the way from Masvingo to do such a thing."
Damba said they gathered that the cattle had been driven to the farm of one of Mrs Mahlangu's brothers along the Bulawayo-Harare highway. "We have since reported the matter to the local headman Khanda Ncube who informed Chief Malisa," said Damba.
Ncube said the chief would soon summon the in-laws to resolve the matter.
