SA police shot two people on Zim border

Two men a Zimbabwean and a Malawian national were shot and wounded when they tried crossing the border illegally, Musina police said on Friday.
Lt-Col Ronel Otto said police received information about a vehicle trying to cross the border from South Africa to Zimbabwe at about 7pm on Thursday.
"The (people in the car) opened fire when police approached them; the police then returned fire."
A Zimbabwean man, 39, was shot in the leg while an unknown number of people fled from the scene.
Patrolling police later found a Malawian man, 29, crawling next to the road. He had also been shot in the leg. Both were in hospital under police guard.
"The cigarettes, as well as the vehicle used to transport them, were confiscated," Otto said.
Police were investigating the origin and destination of the cigarettes.
