Three female MDC activists arrested in Tsholotsho on Monday were reportedly made to take off their underwear before being taken to cells.
The three were part of the 15 activists arrested for holding a door to door campaign.
They were released on Tueday evening without charge.
Councillor Rhoda Ncube said upon arrest, they were made to take off their panties and brassieres before being taken to cells.
"They took our underwear. It was so humiliating and demeaning to have our undergarments taken away," she said.
"The cell had no blankets and we slept seated on the floor and one of us has problems with her uterus."
The activists accused the police of denying them food on the night of their arrest.
"We were not allowed to eat and the next morning we only ate at 10am instead of 8am. We have been treated inhumanely," said Ncube.
The activists were released with no charge and are required to sign warned and cautioned statements on 31 May.
