The resettled farmers in Umguza Constituency have just received 100 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate fertiliser. The farmers expressed optimism that they will harvest increased yields this agricultural season, saying the programme will ensure food security locally and put the country back in its pole position as the bread basket of the region.
Zanu PF District Chairperson for Umguza Constituency, Cde Richard Moyo, told party supporters that President Mugabe has worked tirelessly to ensure that all resettled farmers in the country are equipped with agricultural inputs, despite illegal sanctions imposed on the country by the west.
The constituency's 19 wards received 60 tonnes of maize seed and 60 tonnes of cotton in different phases of the programme.
Farmers in other districts in Matebeleland North including Hwange, Nkayi and Lupane have already benefitted from the programme.
