The South Africa National Defense Forces on Saturday started arriving in Cape Flats to assist the police force in fighting crime.
At the time of writing South African media reported that the Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz and other provincial officials were meeting with the Police Minister Bheki Cele in Paarl to discuss a broader crime-fighting plan.
The SANDF has announced that its members would not be deployed to the Cape Flats on Friday as they needed to complete the paperwork to ensure that the move is in line with the constitution.
The SANDF says its operation to assist the police in fighting crime on the Cape Flats will be known as Operation Prosper.
