Binga man assaults wife, mother in law over secret kid

Fortunate Sibawa aged (33) of Binga bashed his wife and mother in law after he discovered that his wife, Lydia Dube has a five year old secret child.

Sibawa was not aware of the child when he married his lover as the kid was said to be Lydia's young sister.

Now Sibawa who is out of custody till June 26 is demanding his lobola money back.

Binga magistrate, Stephen Ndlovu heard that on June 11, Sibawa returned home late at night from a beer drink.

He refused to eat his supper and confronted his wife about the child saying he was told by friends at a beerhall that her supposed sister was her child.

Initially, Lydia dismissed him saying it was not true but Sibawa did not buy her explanation. Realising that Sibawa was not moved, she fled to her parents homestead with Sibawa in hot pursuit.

He then demanded an explanation from his mother in law threatening to kill them.

Both women gave in and told Sibawa the truth claiming that they feared that he would not marry Lydia is he knew the truth.

He then severely beat up the two who made a police report.
