Mum beats 2-year-old daughter to death for eating her sadza

A 20-year-old woman in Chief Msampakaruma's area in Kariba is facing a murder charge after she killed her two-year-old daughter for eating sadza without her permission.
Marjorie Smart of Village 56 was remanded in custody to tomorrow when she appeared before Karoi magistrate Mrs Nyaradzo Ringisayi recently. The State alleges the incident took place on the night of June 24 this year.
According to court documents, the toddler ate a meal without seeking her mother's permission.
Smart was not amused. She assaulted the two-year-old with a 60-centimetre-long stick, resulting in her falling unconscious. She was pronounced dead the following morning. Mr Benjamin Negato prosecuted.
