A Plumtree family allegedly killed a man, bathed in his blood and used 'traditional African science' to clone the body back to life.
The family is said to have turned the man into a goblin that was supposed to bring riches supernaturally. However, the creature has allegedly gone out of hand as it continually demand to be fed with human blood and has burnt down the family homestead several times in fits of range after being denied its meals. The family, which has been living in terror for the past four years, has finally confessed to killing a villager and creating the 'monster'. The goblin has been terrorising the family, demanding human flesh, burning down huts and beating them up.
According to sources from Tokwana area, a family member opened up after a traditional healer who had been engaged to exorcise the homestead revealed that the tormenting goblin was the spirit of a local person who was murdered by the family for ritual purposes and had his blood stored in a gourd.
After the startling revelations by the traditional healer, local leadership pressed hard on the member to divulge information on the origins of the terrorist goblin. The woman reportedly opened up and told the gathering that the goblin was sought by her late husband.
"She said her husband killed a local villager, and she was ordered to bath using the man's blood in order to instill courage in her. The man was then cloned back to life using traditional science, and the remaining blood was stored in a gourd. The location of the gourd was kept secret by her husband who died without telling anyone where he was secretly keeping the blood," village head Bethrams Mlalazi said.
Villagers revealed that when the accused killer was alive, he had become popular with local imbibers for killing goats anytime and giving away all the meat except the blood.
"He would say he just wants the blood so that he could cook what is known in Shona as musiya using the blood of the goats," said one villager.
The granny allegedly took over the care of the goblin after the death of her husband. She continued feeding the goblin with goats' blood until June 2008, when the clone creature revolted and demanded human flesh. She only told the gathering recently what had transpired, but she said she had no idea where her husband hid the gourd.
The family has lost fortunes in their quest to exorcise their home. They have engaged faith healers and traditionalists who all have charged them herds of cattle claiming they can successfully expel the goblin but without success. Another villager said the traditional healer, however, failed to locate the gourd but warned them that if it is not found, the goblin will haunt them forever.
The woman's daughter confirmed the incident saying: "We are suffering and we just need a healer who will save the family."
