The trio, Mcebisi Ndlovu, Christopher Sibindi and Zuze Mguni, were arrested in May on allegations of distributing fliers carrying messages perceived to be defamatory of the character of Khumalo, the lawmaker for Umzingwane.
Ironically, they were arrested soon after their suspension amid allegations that they were attempting to block Khumalo's incorporation into the MDC-T's structures.
Khumalo has refused to endorse Welshman Ncube as president of the MDC and instead recognises Deputy Prime Minister Mutambara as leader of the splinter group. She is reportedly making moves to join the MDC-T. Upon their arrest in May, the MDC-T officials were transferred to Gwanda where they were released on free bail on their first appearance in court about a fortnight ago.
In acquitting the three, the courts cited lack of compeling evidence from the witnesses who included Khumalo and Mpumelelo Dube, son to Kembo Dube the Umzingwane Senator.
