Man (59) trampled to death by an elephant

Hwange man, 59, from Jambezi area under Chief Shana was trampled by an elephant and his remains were on Monday morning found strewn all over the ground near his homestead. 
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube confirmed the incident.
He said the man was last seen on the evening of 19 August at about 7pm when he was going outside his bedroom hut to take a bath.
"We received a report that Elliot Zondo of Mazange area, Siamwele Village, Jambezi under Chief Shana was trampled by an elephant. It was reported that the incident happened on 19 August at about 7pm in a bushy area outside his homestead," said Insp Dube.
He said on the night in question, Zondo went out to take a bath behind a hut and did not return.
"After Mr Zondo went out, his mother Mrs Lily Zondo (81), heard an elephant trumpeting near their homestead," he said.
Insp Dube said the next morning, Mrs Zondo woke up and after failing to locate her son, she went to tell other  villagers that her son was missing and a search was conducted.
"The villagers found the body under a tree with multiple injuries all over and a report was made to the police who attended the scene," said Insp Dube.He said no foul play was suspected.
