Man beats up, rapes daughter-in-law after she turned down his proposal

In an incident that left Gwelutshena villagers shell-shocked, a man allegedly demanded sex from his daughter-in-law and when she denied him the right to test the forbidden fruit, he gave her a thorough beating before raping her.
The man from Zanda area allegedly failed to control his extremely high sexual zest and decided to do the taboo by seeking sexual favours from his 28-year-old daughter-in-law. When the woman refused to honour his request, the man reportedly assaulted her with open hands and threatened to stab her if she screamed for help. Fearing for her life, the complainant suffered silence as the man stripped her and raped her once.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube confirmed the incident, adding that the alleged rapist was still at large.
"After allegedly raping his daughter-in-law, he disappeared and we have since launched a manhunt," said Insp Dube.
It is reported that the woman was on her way home from a traditional ceremony when she met her father-in-law in a bushy area around 8pm. Little did the woman know that she was not in safe hands. After turning down his proposal, he then beat her up before forcing her to satisfy his sexual appetite.
Despite being threatened with death, the complainant narrated the ordeal to her husband, who is the son of the alleged rapist. The two reported the matter to police.
