A 19-YEAR-OLD man from Plumtree, who was suffering from a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), died after drinking a concoction that was prepared by his brother.
Police identified the deceased as Mncedisi Dube, of 1977 George Silundika in Plumtree.
Matabeleland South police acting provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya, said Dube went to visit his brother who prepared a concoction for him last Sunday.
"Dube went to his brother, Vulindlela Dube on Sunday at about 5pm. His brother prepared a concoction of herbs for him as he was suffering from an STI and was complaining of general body pains," he said.
Ass Insp Ngwenya said the now deceased Dube returned to his home after drinking the concoction where his condition worsened.
"At about 11pm Dube's condition worsened and his wife, Sibongile Mudzamani, called Vulindlela and looked for transport to take him to hospital.
"Dube died before he could be rushed to hospital and the matter was reported to the police," he said.
Asst Insp Ngwenya said the body was taken to Plumtree District Hospital for post mortem.
He said investigations were still in progress.
