Police are investigating the death of a six year old boy who was allegedly murdered by a suspected mentally challenged man last week.
Police Provincial spokesperson Inspector Leonard Chabata said the boy from Mhlupheki Village, Chief Malisa, Zhombe was allegedly abducted by Marvelous Moyo (20) - a mentally challenged man and was later found dead. The boy was identified as Tino Muguti.
"Moyo was roaming around Makobogwe business centre, just like any other mentally challenged person. Close to the centre were a group of children who were were herding cattle in the nearby grazing area," said Insp Chabata.
He said Moyo approached the group of children where he snached Tino and ran away with him.
"Muguti must have screamed and tried to escape the tight grip of Moyo because the other children sensed danger. They ran away to the boy's uncle and alerted him about the abduction," said Insp Chabata.
The police spokesperson said the boy's uncle told other villagers who went on a search for the young boy and the man. After a long search they found Moyo.
"He went through serious interrogation and finally he revealed the location of the boy," said Insp Chabata.
Moyo led them to some muddy water and the villagers found the dead boy in the muddy water.
