IN an incident that has set tongues wagging in the mining town of Hwange, a woman teamed up with her mother and siblings to beat him up their son-in- law alleging that he had insulted their mother.
The four, Dennis, Sandra, Sali and Queen Moyo aged 28, 23, 26 and 53 years respectively of C144 Madumabisa Village in Hwange, pleaded not guilty when they appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Collet Ncube facing charges of violating Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16 "physical abuse".
The court heard that on 8 December 2012 at around 7.30pm, Dennis and Sali confronted the complainant, Keithneth Sibanda at his house accusing him of insulting their mother, Queen.
The two then dragged Sibanda to a nearby road where their mother Queen and Sandra were waiting.
Upon arrival, he was pushed down by Dennis before the others joined in and assaulted him with clenched fists and kicking him on his body.
Queen got hold of a stick and assaulted Sibanda several times on both legs resulting in them swelling. He was lucky to survive the wrath of his attackers when a passerby came to his rescue. He sustained a bleeding left ear and swelling on his legs which made it difficult for him to walk.
They were remanded out of custody to 21 January for continuation of trial. Mr Tinomupeyi Mbiza represented the State.
