Flooded river claims herdboy's life

A Beitbridge herdboy was swept by a flooded river, which he attempted to cross, police reported yesterday.
The incident occurred on Thursday at about 7pm in Mapfundungwe River, Khayense resettlement scheme in Beitbridge.
The deceased from Chivhu (whose name is withheld as next of kin have not been informed) was employed in Lutumba area as a herdboy.
Matabeleland South police provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya said the herdboy drowned when he was on his way home in Bakwe area coming from a cattle sale in the nearby area, Village Number 3, where he was drinking beer with his two friends.
