MDC-T has denied the Financial Gazette report that former United Kingdom based radio broadcaster Ezra Sibanda's bid to contest the
Vungu parliamentary seat has been rejected.
The party's provincial chairperson for Midlands said: "Its just a lie ... Ezra Sibanda has done a lot for the province and no one has been rejected."
"The Province has no mandate to reject or endorse a candidate. Ezra Sibanda gave his CV to the Province and we forwarded all CVs to National, As i speak we haven't received any communication to say he was rejected. The power to do such remains with the National Directorate and the National council," she said.
The provincial chairperson also said: "as it stands his (Ezra Sibanda) CV is as good as All the CVs that we received. The person who is mentioned by that paper has no authority to make press statements, and as a province we wonder where he got his power from, At this juncture the candidate selection is still incomplete and therefore any debate on the issue is speculation. On behalf of the province i would like to apologise to Ezra Tshisa Sibanda and the people of Vungu, democracy will prevail."
The MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora also dismissed the rumour saying no one has been rejected and "We are very happy that a lot of people have come forward wanting to represent the party."
When contacted by Bulawayo24.com Ezra Sibanda said that it was "All a lie by someone who is trying to de-campaign me."
