The ZIPRA veterans Trust has hailed Professor Welshman Ncube for cultivating a culture of peace, unity and co-existence and castigated Jabulani Sibanda for embarking on a violent pre-election crusade meant to coerce civilians to vote for Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF.
The Advocacy and Information officer for the ZIPRA Trust, Mr Marshall Mhofu, said they wanted all war veterans to operate under one organisation.
Mhofu was speaking to reporters soon after delivering the organisation's solidarity statement at an MDC rally held in Gwanda over the weekend.
Marshall Mhofu, Joe Mhofu and Patrick Musonelwa were introduced to the MDC leadership and over 4000 party supporters by the Party's Deputy Secretary General, Moses Mzila Ndlovu, who is one of the most celebrated former Zipra fighters.
Mhofu said Jabulani Sibanda was trained in Zipra but unfortunately decided not to subscribe to Zipra principles and values.
"Zipra was a disciplined force that believed in peace and principled leadership, not violence against the innocent civilians," said Mhofu.
The MDC candidate for Gwanda South who is a veteran of the liberation struggle and a Development Specialist, Paul Themba Nyathi was assured of a resounding victory by the people of Gwanda during the COPAC victory celebrations.
