Government has secured a $150 million loan facility from China Exim-bank towards the construction of a bigger terminal at Victoria Falls Airport.

In a move that is expected to increase tourist in-flows at the airport, government says the $150 million facility concluded with the China Exim-bank is important in matching the terminal with world class standards.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development, Mr Munesushe Munodawafa told reporters on the sidelines of an investment conference in South Africa, that the extension work at Victoria Falls Airport will start this month.

"We have secured the much needed facility and we hope this will increase inflows of tourists," he said.

Government has embarked on a massive refurbishment exercise of airports to position Zimbabwe as a viable investment and tourist destination.

However, limited funding is hindering such efforts with relevant authorities courting regional and multilateral banks to access offshore facilities at long term periods.
