Robber jailed for eight years

ONE of the four Beitbridge men who stormed into a house in Dulibadzimu where they robbed the owner of $10 000, R5 000, a laptop and two cellphones at gunpoint, has been jailed for eight years.

Eric Nyarambi, of Zengeza suburb in Chitungwiza pleaded not guilty to contravening section 126 of the Criminal Law (Reform and Codification) Act (armed robbery) but was convicted by Mr Joseph Mabeza during a court circuit in the border town on Thursday.

He was sentenced to 12 years in jail of which four years were conditionally suspended for five years.

The prosecutor, Mr Johannes Tlou, said on 19 February at about 7pm Nyarambi teamed up with, three others and they went to the complainant's house in Dulibadzimu.

Two of the suspects are still at large while the other one, Brighton Nyamhike, died in police cells.

The four men, who were all wearing black masks and brandishing a pistol and knives, stormed the house.

They demanded money from the complainant and threatened to kill her if she resisted.

They robbed the woman of R5 000, $10 000, a Samsung laptop worth R4 500 and a two Nokia cell phones.

A report was made to the police leading to the arrest: of Nyarambi and Nyamhike.
