A Binga woman reportedly found herself in a dilemma when her husband allegedly ordered her to deliver their son's private parts to a certain traditional healer who was supposed to help them get rich.

The woman, Esnath Mudimba, got the shock of her life when her husband, Amos Nyondo, allegedly instructed her to cut off their 8-year-old son's private parts.

It is reported that on 12 April, Nyondo arrived at their homestead at around 9pm. Upon arrival, his wife told him that there was nothing to eat at home. It was a good opportunity for Nyondo to break the 'prosperity' news to his wife. He allegedly told Esnath that they had suffered a lot in life and his ancestors needed their son's private parts to be appeased.

A misunderstanding is said to have ensued between the two after Esnath accused her husband of being a murderer. She went on to insult Nyondo saying he was so selfish.

However, the woman's sentiments did not go down well with Nyondo and be bashed his wife with a knobkerrie. The woman failed to escape because she had suffered a fracture on her right leg.

On the following day, the caring mother was ferried to hospital for medication and upon explaining what had happened, a report was made to the police leading to Nyondo's arrest.

The man was arraigned before Binga magistrate, Mr Shepherd Ndlovu, facing domestic violence charges. He pleaded guilty to the charges and said he committed the offence because his wife had provoked him.

Responding to the claims of cutting off their son's private parts to get rich, the man confirmed that indeed he mentioned that to his wife.

"I never told her to kill our son. I only narrated to her what the traditional healer required (private parts) for us to get rich," he said.

Esnath told the court that she was afraid to live with her husband as she had discovered that he was capable of doing anything to get rich. Magistrate Ndlovu remanded Nyondo in custody to 26 April and ordered the woman to bring a doctor's report as exhibit.
