Police and fire brigade in Kwekwe have rescued an infant from a pit toilet after it was thrown by its mother soon after birth.
The mother and the baby boy have been admitted at Kwekwe hospital.
Plaxedes Bangamwe (26) of plot number 10 Chicago, Kwekwe was arrested after the baby was discovered by Thinkso Muneyi who found Plaxedes crying and also heard a baby crying in the pit.
It is alleged that Bangamwe had kept her pregnancy a secret and on the day in question pretended to be relieving herself in the toilet.
Acting Midlands Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Berzael Nyawo has urged mothers facing problems with raising their children to seek help from relatives and charity institutions instead of destroying innocent lives.
