The fierce fights within President Mugabe's Zanu-PF party are being fuelled by jostling for the national chairperson's post which is likely to fall vacant soon following the expected elevation of Simon Khaya Moyo to the position of Vice President.
Sources said John Landa Nkomo's death ignited fierce internal party fights with members linked to VP Joice Mujuru and Defence minister Emmerson Mnangagwa's camps battling to fill the vacancy.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF national secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa has admitted that his party has been ripped apart by factionalism, but denied allegations that he was involved in fanning divisions to land the Vice-Presidency.
Addressing journalists at Mutare Press Club on Saturday, Mutasa also rubbished MDC formations' push for security sector reforms, describing the country's security sector as highly professional.
Turning to security sector reforms, Mutasa said all the service chiefs were professional and there was no need for any reforms.
