AN angry and notorious goblin from Tokwana area in Plumtree has
threatened to mobilise other goblins from the area for a public
demonstration if villagers do not assist him locate members of "his"
family.
The goblin known as Rah to villagers has caused untold suffering to the Ndlovu family, demanding human flesh and beating up everybody.
It was left alone after family members deserted their homestead following the death of Hleziphi Ndlovu. The late Ndlovu was believed to have inherited Rah from her husband who died some years ago.
According to a source from Tokwana, on Sunday last week, the village head's bell rang and some villagers went to his homestead to find out about the urgent matter which had arisen.
"We were about 15 villagers and to our surprise, the village head informed us that he did not ring the bell. While we were busy wondering what could have happened, a voice addressed us," a source said.
The village head, Bethram Mlalazi confirmed that a bell was rung and people gathered at the community court.
"Just as I was explaining to restless villagers that I never invited them to my forum, a voice addressed us," he said.
According to Mlalazi, the voice said: "I am Rah. I need you all to help me locate abangekhaya. I can't see them anymore. Mama passed on and they have left me alone."
Rah is said to have threatened villagers that if they do not help him, he was going to mobilise all goblins in the village to get out of granaries and help him stage a demonstration until they take him to where his keepers are.
The multilingual goblin (speaks English, Kalanga, Zulu and Ndebele) started troubling Ndlovu's family in June 2009 after they turned down his request for human flesh.
One of the family members, Sithokozile Ndlovu once told a local paper that they started living with the goblin in 2003 but they lived with it in harmony.
"One day in June 2009, he woke up and said he was tired of goat meat and as such wanted human flesh. We asked him whose meat and Rah mentioned my name," said Sithokozile.
Sithokozile's mother, Hleziphi could not kill her daughter and the goblin was infuriated.
"I was not going to sacrifice myself for the goblin and my mother could not do the same. Rah got angry and started beating everyone in the family. We have not had peace since he demanded that I become part of his meal," she said.
It is said that at times Rah would tie children onto a tree using jerseys and spend the whole day thrashing them with a switch.
