Chief Siachilaba of Binga laid to rest

The late Chief Siachilaba who died in Bulawayo last Sunday has been buried at his rural home in Binga.
In a speech read on her behalf, the Governor and Resident Minister for Matabeleland North province, Thokozile Mathuthu described the late chief as a hard worker who had time to address challenges.
She urged family members to remain united, calm and avoid causing conflict in selecting the next chief.
Deputy President of the Chief's Council, Chief Mtshane said the nation has lost a kind and loving man whose gap will be difficult to fill.
Various speakers who attended the burial described the late chief as a humble leader who devoted much time to promoting education and the recognition of Tonga as an official language.
Chief Siachilaba was born on the 4th of March in 1937 in Binga where he received primary and secondary education.
He worked as a prison officer for 18 years until his appointment as chief on the 4th of March in 1983.
He succumbed to diabetes at UBH in Bulawayo.
He is survived by three wives, five children and 14 grandchildren.
