A family from Tshitulipasi area in Beitbridge has reportedly deserted its homestead after a suspected goblin gave them sleepless nights demanding to be taken to its owner's grave.

It is reported that Vhuncani Nleya died a few months ago and trouble started after the sharing of his property.

A family friend revealed that they suspected that the goblin did not immediately become a nuisance to the family as the deceased's property was locked in one of the huts.

"We suspect that it was not troubling the family because it had a private room where no one was disturbing it. The deceased's bedroom was locked and people rarely entered it, maybe that's the reason why it was silent. Trouble started a when days after the family shared the deceased's property," said the source.

It is reported that on the fateful night, they failed to sleep as stones were being pelted on the roofs of the huts. At first they suspected that it was a ghost since someone from the family had just died.

"The Nleya family had concluded that it was a ghost, but one night when they were seated in the kitchen they heard something coughing from the cupboard. A voice came out from the cupboard ordering them not to run away. The frightened family members never moved and the suspected goblin told them that if they wanted peace at their homestead they should bury it with the deceased," narrated the source.

Since the fateful day, it is reported that the Zhou family members have moved away from their homestead and are staying at a relative's place.

When the deceased's brother, Israel Nleya, was contacted for comment, he confirmed the incident and said they are yet to approach the prophets for a solution.

"It's true that we moved out of our homestead. We are yet to find out the truth from prophets on whether it was a ghost or goblin that was troubling us," he said.
