Yesterday the Prime Minster launched the Rural Transformation Program which includes Drip irrigation, Biogas and Solar at my homestead in Bubi district, to make the lives of those who live in the rural areas especially the women better.

I planted half a hectare of maize, quarter of a hectare of tomatoes and another quarter of a hectare of cabbages under drip irrigation.

With drip irrigation, the nation can never go hungry because you use a small piece of land, little water but the yield is very high.

The half a hectare of maize is going to give me between 7-10tonnes.

I have ten thousand heads of cabbages and four thousand plants of tomatoes. All these crops were planted on the 18th of April.

End of July I will be harvesting. With drip irrigation you can plant crops throughout the whole year and I have just used one hectare.

I sourced 7 drip irrigation kits which were donated by the Prime Minister to six villagers and one to Mbembeswana 2 primary school. I am going to be updating you on the progress of this amazing scheme.

Good day
