Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai told a rally at Mbila business centre in Bulilima yesterday that no anti-Zanu PF vote should be wasted and Mugabe could grab a victory if parties were divided.
Tsvangirai urged opposition political parties to set aside their differences and forge an electoral pact to defeat President Robert Mugabe.
"There are many parties that want to remove Mugabe, but the most strategic thing is that it is better to be united than to be divided," said Tsvangirai.
"I know there are some in the MDC-T who will say let's go it alone. We don't want to lose any vote against Zanu PF."
There has been a growing chorus for a coalition pact between the two formations of the MDC, although there are some senior members, particularly in MDC-T who are opposed to any form of a coalition.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe told Southern Eye that she would not stand aside to accommodate MDC leader Welshman Ncube in a coalition being touted by the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions.
But Tsvangirai was yesterday unequivocal urging unity.
"We need those votes. Hence we should unite," he said.
