Useless MDC parties have failed to contribute towards the nation's development, Zanu-PF National Chairman Simon Khaya Moyo said yesterday.
Addressing party supporters at Dingumuzi Stadium in Plumtree Town, Khaya Moyo said the MDC parties had proved themselves incapable of ruling the nation during their tenure in Government.
"MDC formations are useless to the nation and harmless to us as a party because they have just ensured their own self defeat. As a party we should not even be concerned of defeat because people have realised the blunder they made in 2008 when they voted for the opposition.
"The country struggled a lot when MDC formations were part of Government and as a nation we should ensure that we do not experience a similar tragedy," said Khaya Moyo. He urged the people of Bulilima and Mangwe districts to learn from their previous mistakes and elect leaders who would not disappoint them.
"These MDC councillors and MPs that you voted into power have done nothing but sideline development programmes within this area. Instead of recording development achievements during their term of office, they have recorded destruction.
"Please let us not repeat the same mistake of entrusting the leadership role upon incapable individuals again. Come the day of elections and you should vote for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF candidates for the councillor and MPs," said Khaya Moyo.
He urged Zanu-PF candidates that would be voted into power to correct the anomalies that had been created by MDC formations. "The Zanu-PF candidates that you see campaigning at MP and councillor levels are the rightful and hardworking leaders that you should vote for come 31 July.
"As for you leaders that will assume office, please ensure that you address the people's challenges which have worsened over the years when MDC formations were in charge in these constituencies," said Khaya Moyo.
He said the revolutionary party had managed to secure 75 council wards unopposed nationwide which proved its popularity.
"We are already certain of victory at all levels because people are wise enough to identify capable leaders. We have already acquired 75 seats for councillors nationwide where our candidates sailed through unopposed," he said.
Khaya Moyo said the nation had to safeguard the achievements recorded since independence.
At the rally, Khaya Moyo's wife, Mrs Margaret Moyo donated blankets to the elderly people and under-privileged children.
