A Lower Gweru woman is reportedly battling for life at Gweru Provincial Hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her husband when she told him that he was not good in bed.
The woman, Ms Portia Zvidzai of Range Two Farm, Lower Gweru had reportedly gone to the extent of seeking to divorce her husband, Onet Musana who could not stomach her complaints that he was failing to satisfy her in bed.
Police spokesperson for Midlands Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred at the couple's residence, Range Two Farm on Friday night.
He said police have since arrested Musana in connection with an attempted murder case.
"Allegations are that the suspect, Onet Musana and the complainant, Ms Portia Zvidzai were customarily married. Ms Zvidzai then indicated to Musana that she was seeking divorce because he was not satisfying her in bed," said Insp Mahoko.
He said on Friday night, Musana then visited Ms Zvidzai who was now using the couple's kitchen hut as her bedroom after she abandoned their bedroom.
"On entering the kitchen hut, Musana asked why his wife was still pursuing another domestic case which was being investigated by the police instead of withdrawing it. He also asked why Ms Zvidzai was seeking divorce," said Insp Mahoko.
He said Musana then got angry when Ms Zvidzai told him that he was not good in bed.
"When Ms Zvidzai told her husband that she was divorcing him because he was not able to satisfy her sexual needs, Musana picked up an iron bar and assaulted her all over the body," said Insp Mahoko.
"Ms Zvidzai was saved by members of the public who swiftly responded to her screams for help. They effected a citizen's arrest on Musana and later surrendered him to the police."
Insp Mahoko said Ms Zvidzai who sustained serious injuries was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where she is admitted.
"Ms Zvidzai's condition is said to be critical and Musana is set to appear in court soon facing attempted murder charges," he said.
