A 45-YEAR-OLD woman is recovering in hospital after she was allegedly struck with an axe on the head by her husband. Ms Alitha Ndlovu is admitted to St Lukes Hospital in Lupane.
Her husband, Never Moyo (53) was accusing her of refusing to allow his sister to stay with them at their homestead in Village 1C, Insuza.
Moyo was not asked to plead to attempted murder when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Abednico Ndebele yesterday.
He was remanded in custody to 22 August.
Allegations are that on 24 July at about 4pm, Ms Ndlovu arrived home from the bush where she had gone to harvest thatching grass.
Moyo, who was at home, questioned her why she had refused to allow his sister, whose details were not given in court, to move in with them. The court was told that a misunderstanding arose between the two resulting in Moyo kicking her on the cheek once.
He allegedly went on to pick up an axe and struck her with its back on the head and she collapsed.
Ms Ndlovu was rushed to St Lukes Hospital by neighbours.
A report was made to the police leading to Moyo's arrest.
Mr Malvern Nzombe is representing the State.
