THE Cephas Msipa Scholarship Trust has come up with a housing project designed to raise funds for the trust while sustaining the legacy of the late Mrs Charlotte Sithabile Msipa, wife to former Midlands Governor, Dr Cephas Msipa.
In an interview, Dr Msipa, who is the founding director of the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust, said the trust set aside 220 hectares for the Sithabile Park housing project from his 402ha.
Dr Msipa said the project which had serviced roads, was unique in that it allowed beneficiaries to design their plots and residential area in the manner they liked.
"Surveyors did their work, the area has well serviced roads but we are leaving to the people to decide how they want to shape the residential area. We want the scholarship to continue. This is why we are ceding land for plots for the Sithabile Park Project to help us raise funds for the trust.
"It is also a way of thanking a special lady, my late wife, Charlotte Sithabile Msipa. We also want to thank the thousands of Zimbabweans who joined us in mourning the death of our mother and wife. The housing project is a family venture that I mooted together with my sons in honour of a special woman in our lives," he said.
Today, the Trust would hold an Open Day where a real estate company engaged to sell and market the plots would be meeting with potential buyers, explaining to them the benefits of developing properties in Sithabile Park.
Dr Msipa said the plots on sale were suitable for market gardening, dairy farming, greenhouses, conference facilities, retirement homes, cluster houses, poultry and piggery projects among others.
"On our Open Day, prospective buyers will get to meet our estate agency who will help by explaining the opportunities that are there in Sithabile Park. We have received enquiries already from prospective buyers, some of whom have indicated that they are interested in setting up private schools in the area.
In fact, the project is so unique to an extent that residents or plot holders will be free to meet regularly, deciding how best they want to develop their residential area," he said.
Dr Msipa said his late wife wanted to see the Trust thriving as she kept encouraging him to continue assisting orphans.
"I remember her last words to me, she was not feeling well but she told me to go to the musical gala that we were holding to fund-raise for the scholarship trust. She told me to go ahead with the gala and attend to her later," he said.
Land in the Sithabile Park costs $3 per square metre.
Prospective buyers have to pay a deposit of 10 percent with the balance payable over a period of 10 years.
"Title deeds are available upon full payment and occupation is possible once one pays the 10 percent deposit," he said.
The CG Msipa Scholarship has assisted many disadvantaged students with their studies over the years.
The trust is the brainchild of Dr Msipa.
