Violent Filabusi man up for murder

A man from Filabusi is due to appear in a Gwanda Court today facing serious charges of cold blooded murder.

The man, name and age not immediately available, is reported to have murdered a fellow patient while admitted at Filabusi Hospital last week.

It is reported that the man was irked by the continuous groaning of a patient sleeping on a bed next to him and just jumped from his bed picked up the sick neighbour and hit his head first on the floor in "mercy murder".

According to eye witnesses the man is said to have said that he killed the fellow patient to give the man a rest from his illness as the victim groaned and mourned non stop due to pain.

The man is further reported to have turned violent (amangoromela) on his arrest that police had to seek reinforcement to arrest him.

He was immediately transferred to Gwanda remand prison where it is also reported he has been placed on solitary confinement after beating up the more than 50 inmates he shared the prison cell with.

Asked for a comment a prison officer at Gwanda Prison could not deny nor confirm the availability of such a prisoner.

Confirmed reports however indicate the man will appear in Gwanda Magistrate Court today from Gwanda Prison under heavy police and prison officials guard.
