The Victoria Falls MDC-T wad 9 candidate, Sovelo Dhlamini, won the Saturday by-election.

Councillor Dhlamini won with 238 votes against Zanu PF, 207 and Zapu 5.

MDC-T said although the elections were held using the disputed voters' roll the residents of Ward 9 in Victoria Falls remained convinced that it is only the MDC-T that is able to deliver real change and transformation.

Councillor Dhlamini said he will work tirelessly with his colleagues in the resort town to ensure that there is better service delivery in the local authority.

The by-election was held after the MDC candidate in the 31 July elections died on the day of the election.

He thanked the residents of Ward 9 for their continued support of the MDC despite frantic attempts by Zanu PF to steal their vote and will for a new democratic Zimbabwe.

Sambulo Mpofu (Zanu-PF), Dhlamini (MDC-T), Atient Ncube (MDC) and White Julius Willard Phiri of Zapu contested for the ward.
