Zanu-PF Central Committee member Patricia Mohadi, sister to Home Affairs Minister Kembo Mohadi, who died last Sunday, was buried at her rural home in Mtetengwe yesterday.

Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Mohadi homestead to bid farewell to the liberation heroine.

The veteran politician, who was 50, succumbed to a severe headache and was honoured with a three-gun salute.
Mohadi had been admitted at Beitbridge District Hospital a few weeks ago.

Several speakers described her as a tireless and dedicated liberation war heroine.

Among those who attended the funeral were police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri, Deputy Minister for Women's Affairs Abigail Damasane, Naison Moyo, Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial chairperson Andrew Langa, his deputy Rabelani Choeni and senior civil servants from all over the country.

In his graveside speech, Andrew Langa described the late heroine as a true daughter of the soil.

"People should emulate Mohadi, who worked tirelessly throughout her whole life in ensuring that peace and development prevailed across the country. This is a sad loss to the Zanu-PF family and the whole country.

"I am sure she died a happy person after achieving some of her goals which included the indigenisation programme and helping Zanu-PF win in the just-ended harmonised elections.

"She had proved to be a hard worker from the days of the liberation struggle until the end of time," said Langa.
