Boy (12) drowns in dam while trying to catch ducks

A 12 year-old boy and son to Gweru councillor for ward 16, Clr Tawanda Magidi drowned in a dam while trying to catch some ducks which were in the dam, police confirmed yesterday.
The now deceased boy, Blessed from Mkoba Village 18 had gone for hunting on the outskirts of Gweru together with friends when he drowned.
Clr Magidi yesterday said; "The boy left home at about 9am on Wednesday saying he wanted to go and see his friends in Mkoba Village 13. He later accompanied his friends who were going for hunting on the outskirts of Gweru," Clr Magidi said the now deceased and his friends found some ducks which got into a dear by dam as they were hunting.
He said Blessed removed his clothes and got into the dam intending to swim after the ducks.
"He drowned and a report was made to the police.
His body was recovered on Wednesday night and we are expecting to lay him to rest tomorrow (today)," said Clr Magidi.
