Two village heads fined for insulting chief Sigola

TWO Matabeleland South village heads, Gallet Mabhena of Godlwayo village and Luckson Mkandla of Ntabeni Ende village, were last week fined $200 each for insulting Chief Sigola.
The two pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal insult when they appeared before magistrate Takundwa Witness Mtetwa at the Mbembesi Circuit Court.
The magistrate convicted and fined them $200 each to be paid before December 31.
If the traditional leaders fail to pay the fines they will serve four-month jail terms.
The court heard that on May 12, at 9am the two village heads were at Godlwayo village where they insulted Chief Sigola of Mabaleka village during a meeting.
They said in isiNdebele, Akusikho nduna lokhu, kuhamba kusidla emalayinini, (This is not a Chief. He goes around scrounging for food).
The chief made a report to the police, leading to their arrest.
