Gweru residents to use only 500 litres of water per month

Gweru Town Council will on February 1 introduce water rationing allowing residents to use just 500 litres of water per month.
According to zimbabwefocus, the local authority gave no time frame when the rationing will end.
It said it major supply dam Gwenhoro is having low water levels.
"Notice is hereby given that of Section 187 Subsection (3) of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15) that in view of the low water levels in Gwenhoro Dam and in view of Amaphongokwe Dam abstraction system being inadequate as a standalone facility, the council has resolved to introduce water rationing schemes" council said in a notice on Monday.
Council said it "shall be an offence to use hosepipes or sprinklers for watering lawns, sports fields /tennis courts or for washing of motor vehicles, involving Municipal water, to fill up swimming pools using Municipal water or to leave a tap running without anyone in attendance".
