The photo that exposed Chinese abuse of workers

The Chinese contractor building the national stadium in Lilongwe has apologised to the nation for abuse of a Malawian national by a Chinese manager at the site.

This comes after a Malawian newspaper The Daily Times captured and published  the Chinese national chasing a labourer with a baton stick, for suspecting him of stealing a cable from the construction site.

The incident attracted heavy criticism and condemnation from the citizenry, the civil society including the government, which has since warned of deportation to any Chinese national found abusing local workers.
