A Gweru man, employed as a bus driver at Chaplin High School has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing school girls he lured to his house.
Sources close to the investigations said the school driver, Peter Mazanhi, 52, has been using his house which is within the school premises as a love nest, luring girls using goodies before sexually abusing them.
"On Friday afternoon, Mazanhi approached a Form Four girl and asked her to visit his house to collect her ‘present'. The girl then called her mother who is in Gweru," said the source.
The source said the girls' mother advised the school authorities and a trap was set for Mazanhi.
They said the girl, who was aware of the trap laid for Mazanhi visited his house on Friday at around 6pm leading to Mazanhi's arrest.
"When the girl visited Mazanhi, he locked his doors before making some sexual advances on the girl. The girl screamed for help and some teachers who had set a trap quickly knocked at the door leading to Mazanhi's arrest," said the source.
Police spokesperson for Midlands provincial Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday said he was still to get details surrounding Mazanhi's arrest.
Meanwhile, pupils at Chaplin High School have since opened a face book page denouncing Mazanhi for his behaviour.
The pupils claimed Mazanhi's sexual abuse of pupils had been reported to Childline and the school authorities but no action was taken.
"Thank you ZRP for arresting Mr Mazanhi, we have been calling Childline, but no action was taken against this driver who has been ****** our girls," read one of the post.
Another post read, "Why they (school authorities) kept on protecting him since last year, no one knows".
