Classroom collapses, pupils injured

THREE pupils sustained injuries when a mud and pole classroom collapsed during lessons at Kalungwizi Secondary School in Lusulu, Binga.
Matabeleland North provincial education director Boithatelo Mnguni said the three pupils, two girls and a boy were rushed to a local clinic for treatment.
"The thatch roofed classroom collapsed during lessons and injured the three pupils. Two girls were admitted to a local clinic and discharged while the boy was transferred to Binga District Hospital for a suspected fracture on the collar bone," said Mnguni.
The Chronicle could not establish the pupils' ages and grades by yesterday.
Mnguni said Kalungwizi Secondary was one of the many satellite schools in the district with classrooms made of mud, poles and thatch grass.
The incident occurred on Thursday last week.
