Daggers have been drawn and a bloodshed is looming at the Gwanda municipality chambers following a near fist fight between Gwanda mayor and his Zanu PF counterpart Councilor Thulani Moyo on Monday evening.

It is not the first time that the two have clashed in chambers, recently Ndlovu ejected Moyo from council chambers after he reportedly became disorderly during a meeting.

The Monday incident came after Moyo was quizzed for allocating a caravan stand to a local businessman without following laid down procedures.

Moyo reportedly hit back saying he was following the Mayor's stance who allocated vending marts to Zanu PF activists without following procedure leading to the confrontation.

A fist fight was saved by town clerk who pleaded with the two " not to spill blood in council chambers".

Moyo is reportedly eyeing the mayoral post and has been engaging with opposition councilors so a vote of no confidence can be passed on Ndlovu.

Moyo is reportedly backed by Transport minister Obert Mpofu and Mat South provincial affairs minister Abedinico Ncube to take over the post.

Mpofu has of late shown interest in Gwanda town and has been using Moyo who is the chairman of the housing committee to achieve his goal.

Moyo has been overseeing the renovation of Mpofu's building in Gwanda and in return Mpofu's vehicles have been used to rehabilitate roads in Moyo's ward 7.
