A 36-year-old mine security guard has landed himself in trouble with the law for attempting to shoot a man co-habiting with his ex-wife.
Phineas Chiruvigwa appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove facing attempted murder charges and was remanded in custody to March 19.
It is in the State's case that on January 17, Chiruvigwa asked for a firearm from his employer on the pretext of doing patrol duties within the mine premises.
Although the pistol was meant to be used within Jena Mines premises only, Chiruvigwa later went to Manford Tshuma's homestead with five rounds of ammunition loaded in a Star pistol.
Chiruvigwa got involved in a tussle with one of the villagers who tried to wrestle the firearm out of Chiruvigwa's hand.
Tshuma got out of the hut and advanced towards the two.
Chiruvigwa is alleged to have fired one round towards Tshuma but missed.
Villagers managed to disarm the accused and took him to the police, leading to his arrest.
