A 48-year-old Kezi mine owner was forced to undress by a gang of youths who then indecently assaulted her by inserting their fingers into her panties saying they were searching for gold.
The youths, after failing to find the gold, robbed her of property worth about $6,000, the court heard on Friday.
The mine owner, who cannot be named to protect her dignity, together with her daughter told Gwanda magistrate Sheila Nazombe that she suffered an embarrassing ordeal in the hands of the youths whom she had regarded as her children.
She said a group of up to 100 youths pounced on her and her daughter while they were sleeping at night and assaulted them with fists, open hands, kicks and a knobkerrie as they demanded gold and cash from them.
In the process of searching for these valuables, she told the court that she was forced to remove her clothes by one of the youths, Mahubo Ncube, 26.
"Your worship, I was sleeping in my vehicle together with my daughter when we suddenly heard loud noise outside as our vehicle was pelted with stones. The youths broke into the vehicle and ordered me to undress, and I did.
"He (Ncube) then started touching me all over the body, f*ndled my breasts, buttocks and even inserted his hands inside my panties saying that he was looking for gold and money," she said.
The court also heard that in the process, Ncube's friends were shouting; "You should have sex with them!"
"He then turned to my daughter and did the same thing to her but with her clothes on. What happened to us was a humiliation and a disgrace to the whole community," she added.
The mine owner's daughter also took to the witness stand and supported the evidence that was given by her mother.
However, Ncube who is charged with indecent assault denied the allegations and said he never got close to the complainants on the day.
He was remanded out of custody and the matter continues today.
Ncube is also facing charges of robbery together with six others - Hloniphani Ndlovu, 32, Nodumo Nyathi, 27, Handsome Moyo, 32, Prince Sibanda, 25, Mthandazelwa Sibanda, 32, and Tyson Moyo and all of Maphisa area.
The seven pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned before Matabeleland South provincial magistrate-in-charge Reuben Mukavhi saying that it was a case of mistaken identity.
Although some admitted laying foot on the mine during the turmoil, they distanced themselves from the robbery while others claimed that they never got to the scene on that day.
They were remanded out of custody on free bail to today.
Prosecutor Mncedisi Dube narrated how on the night of February 16 this year the accused persons and their colleagues who are still at large caused mayhem at the mine and extracted some gold ore without approval of the mine owner.
"The accused persons extracted some gold ore from the mine shaft after they blasted and drilled using the complainant's compressor and some explosives they had brought.
"They stole property worth $5,950 and four tonnes of gold ore," he said.
The accused persons were arrested by the police following tip offs, the court heard.
