A 12-YEAR-OLD girl from Plumtree has told how she indulged in sex with about 15 men on different occasions under the influence of alcohol.
The juvenile, a Grade Seven pupil, has been taken to Percy Ibbotson Rehabilitation Centre in Bulawayo, at the request of her mother who is based in South Africa.
The sex claims emerged when she was brought to the Plumtree Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, but prosecutors suggested more investigations should be conducted after the girl failed to identify the suspects she slept with.
Her grandmother, Daisy Dube, 75, confirmed the alleged sexual encounters, accusing a female neighbour of introducing her niece to prostitution sometime early last year.
The woman distanced herself from the allegations but admitted the girl slept at her home where she would assist her with her school work.
"My granddaughter was doing Grade Six last year when she started indulging in sex. She started hanging out with an elderly woman from our neighbourhood who introduced her to drugs and alcohol," said Dube.
"She would come home drunk and high but she never told me that she was being used as a sex slave by my neighbour. Eventually, she stopped sleeping at home and stopped attending school but I was not aware of all this."
The woman insisted she tried in vain to reason with the girl to stop taking drugs and alcohol - telling her about the risks of contracting HIV.
Dube said in January this year, the juvenile confessed she had been involved in prostitution for almost a year.
"I kept hearing rumours that my granddaughter had become a well-known prostitute in town but I never believed it. I finally believed after she confessed to me," she said.
"One day she ran away from our neighbour's house in the middle of the night and that was when she confided everything."
Dube said her granddaughter told how her neighbour was using her as a sex slave and would pocket all the money from clients.
"She said she was tired of continuously sleeping with elderly men. She told me that our neighbour had been organising different men to sleep with her at a fee," she narrated.
"My granddaughter said she did all this under the influence of alcohol and could not identify the men she slept with. She just recalls that she slept with more than 10 elderly men. She said some were organised by the woman and others she met at nightclubs."
Dube said she reported the matter to the police and approached the Department of Social Welfare in the district who suggested the girl should be taken to a rehabilitation facility.
A woman who identified herself as MaMoyo, 18, who said she was a friend to the juvenile, said they walked to nightclubs together where they slept with different men.
"I'm a full time prostitute and so is my friend. We used to go to the nightclub together and we would meet different men there. I know over five men she slept with after meeting them at nightclubs and some of them are in law enforcement," she claimed.
"I don't know some of the names of these men. We always consumed alcohol before meeting our clients to gain courage to perform."
MaMoyo claimed they indulged in sex willingly.
